Typography: The Basics

Typography is the art and techniques of type design and layout of the type, including point size, length, line spacing and fonts. Typography was a specialized occupation until the digital age, with greater openness to new generations of visual designers.

In the mid-15 th century German goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press machine. Gutenberg specialized techniques for creating letterpunches in the quantities needed to print morecopies of the text. This technology has started the revolution of printing.

Modern Typography:

There are some issues to consider when choosing a font and decide how to wrap text.

1. Background:

The aspect of typography is not determined by the person that one page, but the response of a particular font for the words that make up the text.

2. Stress and contrast:

Historically thicks and tapers to a point were based on the direction of the angle, and the pressure ofthe pen. In the type of stress is defined as the direction in which a curve changes the stroke width. The three main types of stress are slanted / angled, semi-oblique, and vertical stress. The contrast is the amount of variation between thick and thin.

3. Construction vs. rebirth:

For some designers, half the fun is in print about their construction. A font with a simple model and repetitive tends to lack in individual letters, which makes them difficult todistinguish. There is also the question of the strong contrast between foreground and background letters of the paper or screen.

4. Authenticity:

Like any art form, new characters tend to be inspired by the qualities and characteristics of the old ones. And as painting, music or dance, do not want to drive too far from the original. The idea is to take just enough of the original, but with it to create something new and unique.

5. Balancing art and text:

Aimportant part of putting text on a page are considering how to balance the work of art. This is particularly true for the Web, where they tend to be images of each page. The images must reflect the content and vice versa. And 'why copywriters and designers should work closely together and understand each other, and every vision goals.

When you set to learn the design, whether graphic or web design, typography is one of the first things youshould learn. Those who are interested in web design especially, can find a wide range of suitable fonts for the web. The key must be organized and structured. This means applying the same rules as all that. diameter pipes, font sizes and much more. The design is a fun thing to play with and try to teach yourself. Of course it is' art as the other, and therefore better performed by trained and talented people. If you are building a website that is going to be pretty big and complicated you might wantto commission a web agency specialized to do the job for you.
